Frequently Asked Questions

  • What kinds of materials do you use in your designs?

Using quality, affordable materials in my designs is essential. I mostly use gold filled, sterling silver, Argentium sterling silver and stainless steel.

  • What is Gold Filled?

Gold filled jewelry is created in a similar process to gold plated jewelry, yet it is leaps and bounds ahead in quality. Gold filled is created by applying gold over a base metal and the gold content must be at least 1/20th the weight of the total piece. Gold filled offers an economical alternative to solid gold, while giving little up in quality. If you take proper care of your gold filled jewelry, it will last you for many years to come.

  • What is Argentium Sterling Silver?

Argentium Sterling Silver is a modern sterling silver alloy. The traditional sterling silver alloy contains a small amount of copper, which causes it to tarnish. To create argentium sterling silver, the traditional sterling silver alloy is modified by removing some of the copper and adding the metalloid germanium. I absolutely love using argentium sterling silver in my designs whenever possible. It is amazing quality and I don't have to worry about tarnishing as much as with traditional sterling silver.

  • What are the benefits of Stainless Steel Jewelry?

Stainless Steel has become a very popular choice in jewelry making and for good reason. I love using stainless steel in my designs.

- It is sturdy and durable. If you are into a lot of physical activities, then dainty delicate jewelry might not be the best choice. Stainless steel is very durable therefore it is less likely to  break or get ruined. Be careful though, because it can get scratched.

- It won't tarnish... that means you can go swimming, play sports or even shower with it and it won't oxidize. Stainless steel is great for everyday jewelry because it is so low maintenance. For those who love silver jewelry but don't like worrying about it oxidizing, then stainless steel is a great choice. Stainless steel is more gray in color (kind of an oxidized silver look) but with a good polish it can have a lovely shine to it.

- Hypoallergenic! Many people are allergic to certain metals and are unable to wear certain jewelry as a result. For those with metal allergies, stainless steel jewelry might be the answer you are looking for. A lot of people find comfort in wearing stainless steel earrings, necklaces, etc.. because unlike other jewelry, they do not have a reaction to it.

*Note: When purchasing, at checkout (in the note to seller box), you can request to substitute stainless steel ear wires on certain designs and I will let you know if it is possible.
